Hello! I’m Aikaterina, a contemporary expressionist artist with a passion for creating art that transcends boundaries and captures the essence of emotion and energy. Allow me to share a bit of my journey with you.
Although I was born in Cologne, Germany, my roots trace back to the rich cultural tapestry of Greece. My diverse cultural background has played a significant role in shaping my artistic perspective, infusing my work with a unique blend of influences and experiences.
My journey into the world of art is quite unconventional, as I began my career at a young age as a naval officer in the Greek Navy. However, it didn’t take long for me to realize that my true calling lay elsewhere. With the courage to follow my heart, I made the brave decision to step away from the military and dive headfirst into the world of art.
Paris, the city of love and creativity, became my new home. Here, I immersed myself in the vibrant artistic scene, studying art, French literature, and languages. Later, I expanded my horizons at the University of Strasbourg, getting my Inter University degree in foreign languages, Art, literature and culture. This transformational period allowed me to refine my craft and discover the endless possibilities of self-expression through art.
About My Art
In the vivid tapestry of emotions, colors, and ideas that is my life, I am the artist who wields the brush to translate the intangible into tangible expressions of the human experience.
Each canvas is a battlefield of emotions, where I let my intuition guide me. I surrender to the chaos, allowing the paint to tell its own story, to sing its own song, as I merely facilitate the conversation between the canvas and the cosmos.
My work is a reflection of the ever-shifting mosaic of human sentiment, from the jubilant highs to the somber lows. It’s a testament to the power of color, shape, and texture to communicate the inexpressible, to convey what words alone cannot.
In every splatter, in every swirl, there lies a piece of my soul, a fragment of my experience, and an invitation for you, the observer, to embark on your own emotional journey through the prism of my art. Each piece is an open-ended narrative, waiting for your interpretation, your connection, your own story to unfold.
Through my artwork, I aim to convey the tumultuous journey of self-discovery, transformation, and liberation. Each brushstroke tells a story, each color choice represents an emotion, and each canvas is a window into my soul.
In my paintings I strive to capture the essence of my diverse journeys through the enchanting landscapes of Portugal, France, England, the cities of Germany and of course my beloved Greece. These canvases are a visual diary of my adventures, each brushstroke a testament to the profound beauty I’ve encountered along the way.
One cannot escape the allure of the Aegean Sea, and its vivid azure shades dominate my palette. The deep, soulful blues evoke the endless expanse of the Mediterranean waters, where the horizon merges seamlessly with the sky. These blues are punctuated by delicate hints of white, reminiscent of the iconic traditional houses of Mykonos, their pristine facades gleaming in the sun. The interplay of blue and white forms the backbone of my compositions, a tribute to the timeless charm of the Greek islands.
As the sun sets over Santorini, I find inspiration in the breathtaking hues that paint the sky, transitioning from fiery oranges and reds to the softest pastels. These sunsets are moments of unparalleled magic, and I aim to capture their fleeting beauty in my work, using bold colors and ethereal wisps of color.
